Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, we offer private tours for groups. Contact us for more information and to customize your group's off-road adventure.

What is the minimium number of machines for a private tour?

We do not have a minimium number for private tours. Private tours are a flat rate of $400.00 for 1-6 machines. Seven machines or more, we will need another staff member to ride in the back. There will be a surcharge of $50.00 per machine for anythign over 6 machines. This will help us stay together as we enjoy the tour.

Are the tours suitable for beginners?

Our tours cater to off-road enthusiasts of all levels, from beginners to experienced riders. Our guides will provide instructions and support throughout the tour. If you are booking a private tour or small group tour, then our staff will customize the tour to fit your desires.

What type of clothing should I wear

We recommend bringing comfortable outdoor (seasonal) clothing. Things will get dirty, dusty or muddy, so make sure your okay with your selection of clothing. A neck gaiter is always handy when the trails are dusty. A dry set of clothes could also come in handy in the event you decide to try some of the tougher mud holes.

Should I bring snacks or food?

Yes. Snacks and drinks are encouraged as we will take breaks about every hour. Alcohol is not premitted in the trails so please plan accordingly. With a priviate tour, you will have the opportunity to decide if you want to pack a lunch and eat on the trail or visit one of the local eating establishments.

Why should I take a guided tour?

Guided tours have a number of advanatges but the number one reason would be to stay on course. The trails change from time to time and even our gudies will occasioanlly run into an area that may no longer be accessible. The difference will be in how they can redirect the plan to ensure the group doesn't miss out on what was deemed to be the top priorities for the tour.

Are the guide certified in first aid?

Yes, in accordiance with West Virginia law, all of our guides must be certified in first aid. In addtion, each guides machine has a well stocked first aid kit to handle any anything from a minor cut to a more severe injury requiring medical attention.

What is the minimum age for the trials?

The minimum age limit for the Hatfield McCoy trail system is 6 years old.

Are helmets required to ride the trails

Yes, a DOT certified helmet is required to ride the trail system.

Do you have to have a special permit to ride?

Yes, our team will assist you in getting a trail permit before we begin our tour. The permits are issued by the State of West Va. and they are $50.00 for out of state residents and $40.00 for in state residents. The permits are good for a year, which begins in January and ends in Decemeber of the same calendar year.

How will weather affect our tour date?

Weather will really have little effect on whether the tour will happen. Weather does play a majopr role in how you should dress for the adventure. Unless there is severe weather in the area, will ride rain or shine. Our staff closely monitors the weather as we apporach the day of the event and will comminuate with the group as to what should be expected.
